Plus, the exhaust system has been re-done and there's a new catalytic converter along with a new oxygen sensor and a modified cylinder head which help make the scooter conform to Euro V emission norms. The CVT gearbox on both scooters has been updated as well, thanks to new clutch springs. BMW says that this results in smoother power delivery along with sharper throttle response. Lastly, the updates to both scooters also include a revised automatic stability control ASC which now becomes more sensitive and helps getting more traction on low-traction surfaces. The top speed of both BMW scooters is now rated to be 139 kmph and BMW says that the brakes have been updated with new brake callipers, which offer improved feel and better bite. Maxi-scooters, as opposed to the barebones machines on which they are based, offer tons of tech and premium creature comforts which make them ideal for long-distance touring. Equipped with upright ergonomics and CVT transmissions, these scoots make for friendly commuters, too. Earlier this year, Yamaha unveiled the 20th Anniversary edition of their biggest, baddest maxi-scoot, the TMAX. This time around, BMW is revamping their range of entry-level maxi-scoots in the form of the C 400 GT and C 400 X. Initially launched in 2018, the BMW C 400 X was designed as an urban scooter capable of light off-road riding. Bearing subtle styling cues from the GS line of adventure bikes, the C 400 X continues to be a burly and muscular option in the entry-level maxi-scoot segment. On the other hand, the C 400 GT was designed as a more refined, touring option, boasting streamlined styling and loads of premium features. For the 2021 model year, BMW has rolled out a few notable updates on the duo of maxi-scoots. For starters, the 350cc liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine has been updated with a revised throttle-by-wire system. An updated engine management system also keeps all 34 horsepower on tap, while a redesigned exhaust system consisting of a new catalytic converter and wideband oxygen sensor ensures the engine conforms to Euro 5 emission standards. The C 400 X and C 400 GT both get a slightly revised continuously variable transmission. Fitted with new clutch springs, BMW claims that this update translates to smoother power delivery, especially in low-speed situations such as in heavy traffic, or in congested city streets. Lastly, the C 400 X and C 400 GT both get a revised Automatic Stability Control system meant to kick in slightly sooner, thereby improving safety in low-traction situations. Mon scoot est en quelque sorte une 1200 RT à embrayage automatique avec quasiment les mêmes possibilités. J’ai eu un 400 peugeot satellis qui avait un excellent rapport qualité prix. Malheureusement il n’est plus distribué. Il est souhaitable en effet de développer les scoot mid size mais en maitrisant le coût. Répondre Signalé ce commentaire Pour avoir essayé le C400GT , je confirme ses très bonnes prestations . Je suis d’accord également avec le journaliste sur le choix de la cylindrée 400cc mono-cylindre qui me semble le meilleur compromis pour un scooter. Par contre je regrette que BMW ait sacrifié le coffre sur l’autel du design. Autant je peux me passer facilement d’un démarrage sans clé, d’un anti patinage ou d’un pare brise électrique ; autant le coffre riquiqui me fera renoncer à un achat surtout à ce prix. Quand les constructeurs auront-ils compris que les scooters 400 GT ont encore des adeptes en France ? Les nouveaux modèles sont tous des scooters pseudo sportifs de 30 cv avec des marche-pieds minuscules qui interdisent de cruiser , des selles hautes comme des machines d’enduro , des suspensions indignes qui vous secouent à la moindre bosses et des coffres qui rétrécissent à vue d’œil…. Répondre Signalé ce commentaire Je suis surpris par certains commentaires je trouve la suspension correcte et relativement prévenante en usage urbain, ma femme allant jusqu’à dire qu’elle est mieux transportée que sur mon K1600 ! De plus, la hauteur de selle est correcte, je mesure 1,74 m et mes deux pieds sont bien à plat au sol.
